If you find yourself in Chelsea, this is one of the spots you might want to check out! I would love to tell you that this place attracts a particular crowd, or has something particular about it, but I can’t. The crowd seems to change with the passing of the time. The only unifying team is that every one there comes to party.

You best come dressed appropriately for Duvet. It is one of the sexier crowds in the area, and the people are not the only thing you have to compete with. The interior is just as hip and sexy as the music and the people. The icy-looking bar, the lucrative lighting and the elegant beds lined up throughout the club. You can book also book a bed if you want to experience VIP Duvet-style.

As for the music on Duvet Saturdays, it’s certainly nothing to scoff at. If you’re not interested in stretches of Latin or Reggaeton music, than you will really this set. They usually play hip hop, R&B, reggae and house music. But just because it has hip hop music, doesn’t mean you can dress down. The attire requirement is very strict, and requires you show your best elegance and class, but still look sexy, because the bouncers are really selective.

Sol is a polished old warehouse, renovated especially for partying. Sol generally plays techno, some house and “loungey” music, but for “Saturdays @ Sol,” the DJ breaks out the hip hop, R&B, reggae and reggaeton. There’s lots of commingling, dancing and drinking throughout the night, the VIP room is roped off for you special guests.

Sol has plenty of sexy go-go girls on spectacle for your viewing pleasure. An equal ration of girls to guys leaves you ladies with plenty of eye candy as well. And if you don’t like what you see, you can always taint your vision with some of strongest drinks in the city during Sol’s open bar from 10-11pm.

Head out to Sol on Saturday’s, because everyone else will be there. I know it’s $20, but if you get there for the open bar, your money ticket will pay for itself. Plus, you can get reduced entry at groovetickets.com. So dress to impress, get there early, snag one of the leather booths before they are all gone and enjoy the New York City Nightlife in one the city’s most happening clubs.

After Work Thursdays @ Myst

Posted by Black Oak On July - 11 - 2007

Club: Myst

Venue: “After Work Thursdays @ Myst”

Location: 28th & 10th Avenue (just West of 10th Ave)

Time: Starts at 5, dies around 11:30p.m.

Night: Thursday

Cost: $0 before 7p.m.; $20 after 7p.m.

Popularity: Club is packed at perfect capacity by 7p.m.

Line Wait: 10 minutes on average

Drink/Food Specials: 2 for 1 drinks from 5-7

Girl/Guy Ratio: 1:2

Dress Code: Very strict; Work attire

After Work Thursdays at Myst are great if you are looking for a nice time to relax, chill, listen to some music and do some dancing. While the ratio of girls to guys is heavy on guys, it still is a fairly good mix of the sexes, and it’s not a big pick-up spot anyway. In fact, most people are here to unwind from work a little early in the week, and so there’s not the tension of an actual Friday or Saturday night.

The drink specials are as about as good as it gets. From 5-7 you can get any drink at the bar and get another one free. I mean anything too. So if you’re looking for shots 3 Wise Men, or you’re just yearning for that evening Cosmo, it’s a beautiful night for drink, let’s have two!

As far as dancing goes, it actually takes a while for it to get going. With the free food (which isn’t quite the buffet they advertise), people take a while to get acclimated to the dance floor. The early part of the night is actually full of a lot of talking and relaxing on nice comfortable couches.

All and all, Thursday nights at Myst incorporate a little bit of everything; food, dancing, a nice happy hour and a time to talk and a time play.
