New York Slices…At Night!

Posted by Black Oak On September - 16 - 2007

I’m not going to insult your intelligence by offering up a bunch of Italian eateries where you can go get some of the best tasting cuisine-style pizza in New York, because you already know where those places are. From Lombardi’s and Grimaldi’s, to DiFara’s and Totonno’s, you already know the places, or at least you have read about them in various publications like Citysearch and New York Magazine.

But I’m not here to talk about those. I’m here to talk about an entirely different kind of pizza; “The Late Night Slice Quencher.” You know when you’re leaving that club, bar or lounge at 2 o’clock in the morning, after experiencing a wonderful time with Black Oak Nights: NYC, and all of a sudden hunger hits you over the head like a GEICO caveman with a club? And then you see that late night pizzeria that’s just calling your name. Well I’ve got the best of the best late-night pizzerias that can satisfy your late night slice quench with the pizza of your dreams.

Koronet’s

110th Street and Broadway Ave., New York, NY

Columbia University students frequent this place like no other. As a staple of Morningside Heights, Koronet’s serves up the biggest slice of pizza in New York City. The crust is thin, and the cheese is always melting hot, as they make fresh pies right in front of you. For right around $3, you can get a late slice of pizza, with a topping, that’s big enough to serve two people. But who wants to share? As good as this pizza is, you mine as well eat the whole things. However, Koronet’s pizza is probably the explanation for Columbia’s epidemic of the Freshman 15.

Pakmor Corp

12th Street and 3rd Avenue, New York, NY

You won’t find more outgoing people anywhere else at 2 o’clock in the morning. So don’t here if you don’t plan on striking up a conversation and waiting a minute or two for one of the best slices of pizza in the Washington Square area. Filled with NYU students, migrants from the Lower Eastside and a hefty group of club goers from nearby Webster Hall, Pakmor Corp is not just a destination for food, but for entertainment as well. But you best believe Pakmor Corp packs more than just its retail space. It also packs a pretty tasty pizza that can quickly silence the most social person in the room. There slice of pizza is greasy, has way too much cheese and is often over topped…Just the way pizza was meant to be!

Roma Pizza

1568 3rd Avenue, New York, NY

If you find yourself roaming the Upper East Side either because you just came from some really swanky club, or you’re just really, really, drunk, then try to get yourself together and walk over to Roma Pizza. They have the best pizza you’ll find during the twighlight hours, and just about every type of pizza you’re looking for is available. The pepperoni and broccoli is a socialite favorite. The prices are cheap, and you can always walk in and find them pulling 2 or 3 fresh pies right out of the oven. Yeah, there will probably be a line, but what good pizza place open at 4 in the morning doesn’t have one?
