Cain - 544 West 27th Street, NYC

Thursday is the unofficial start to the Black Oak Nights weekend, and we want to prepare you for the day’s events as best as we can. From open bars to afterwork parties, we have an overabundance of events for young, black professionals this Thursday. So without further adieu, here is the Thursday Nightlife Rundown for March 11, 2010.

Sugar on Top Thursdays – 5pm
Empire Hotel
(44 West 63rd Street): Start your Thursday off right with a little sugar on top. On Thursday evening, the Empire Hotel is hosting one heck of a party where many a March birthday will be celebrated in proper style. Music will be provided by the one and only DJ Deyan, and he’s playing nothing but hip-hop and R&B tunes. Admission is free if you say you’re on the A.C. Pass List, and if you want to celebrate your birthday here, just email rsvp@acpass.com.

Stellar – 10pm
Cain
(544 West 27th Street): It’s getting crazy at Cain this Thursday and you need to be there to experience all of it. There is no cover for ladies, while gentlemen are poignantly charged at the reduced rate. However, that rate might not seem so bad if you arrive at Cain by 10pm, because from 10pm to 11pm there is an open bar available for all of those in attendance. Young, black professionals will be out in full force, looking stylish, trendy and all kinds of sexy; so come dressed correct if you want to join in on the party. Of course, make sure you bring your dancing shoes, because with nothing but hip-hop and R&B on the 1’s and 2’s, you won’t have a reason to get off your feet for even a second.

Afterwork Thursday & Big East Games – Beginning at 11am
Redemption Cocktail Lounge and Café
(1003 Second Avenue): Well, if you are like your typical basketball fan, you’ve already been distracted at work by the various basketball games going on in the afternoon. Thus, why not skip work all together and catch the Big East action at Redemption Cocktail Lounge, where they will be waiting with open arms for your patronage. They are offering a 2-for-1 lunch special for a mere $9.99, and you can drink $3 domestic bud light drafts long into the night. Assuming the weather stays nice, you can even enjoy your meal and basketball al fresco in their outdoor café.

Our House Thursdays – 10pm
Marquee
(289 Tenth Avenue): As you would expect, this party at Marquee certainly won’t be your typical young, black professional crowd. However, there are a few afterwork parties migrating here afterwards, so this should be a pretty diverse affair. Either way, the party is going to be a lot of fun. DJ Arana is going to be in the house, along with DJ Finesse who will be doing it up all night long. As usual, you need to come dressed trendy and sexy to get into Marquee. The drinks of choice will be margaritas and mojitos, both served at special prices throughout the night.

Girls Night Out – 10pm
Webster Hall
(125 East 11th Street): Once again, it’s not a Thursday without a lady-centric event at Webster Hall. Ladies are free all night, while gentlemen are reduced. You will have your choice of music, with anything in the mix on the main floor, while only hip-hop and R&B shall frequent the downstairs party room. Hot 97’s own DJ Cipha Sounds will be holding it down for most of the night, and you know that wherever he goes, a crowd is sure to follow. Ladies will have drink specials in their favor, so get there early if you can to take advantage of them. It gets a little crazy at Webster Hall on Thursdays, so if you plan on going to work early Friday morning, you ought to be prepared.

Spirits, Cocktails & Martini Tasting – 6pm
Hudson Terrace
(621 West 46th Street): Get off your butt, do some work, and get stuff done so you can bolt out the door and make it to Hudson Terrace by 6pm. They are having what should essentially be called a “liquor tasting” as you will have choice of all kinds of liquor, cocktail mixes and martini specialties to choose from throughout the evening. From 7pm to 9pm, and for just $40, you can taste some of Hudson’s concoctions and specialty cocktails. So get there early if you want to get the full experience and get a taste of everything they’re offering.

The High Life Thursdays – 6pm
Taj
(48 West 21st Street): Taj is keeping the party going, with their regular Thursday, no cover, “super happy hour” party. From 6pm to 8pm, there are 2-for-1 drinks and food specials. There is a dress code, but business casual fits the bill. DJ Jon Quick will be in charge of the music, so rest assure that the music will be on point. If like most people you’re a little famished come the end of the work day, try the Apple Smoked Bacon Tempura—believe me, it’s good eatin’.

Vodka & Budweiser Open Bar – 11:59pm
Lit
(93 Second Avenue): Okay, so this won’t be your typical Black Oak Nights crowd, but free vodka and beer is free vodka and beer. Tonight at Lit in the East Village, you can take part in a 30-minut open bar that will provide you with all of the well vodka you need to get your Thursday night popping. Of course, well vodka probably doesn’t bode well for a sound mind come Friday morning, so I’d stay away from the stuff if you have a big day to end the week. You will need the password in order to get in for free. The password has been appropriately deemed “bastard.”
