The sun is shining. The high temperature for the  day is going to be in the 60s. And there are plenty of things for young, black professionals to get into tonight. So get whatever you have to get done completed and finished by the end of the work day, because you will not want to miss out on the afterwork parties, dinner parties, late-night parties and after-parties that are all a part of the Black Oak Nights Wednesday Nightlife Rundown for April 28, 2010.

Quo Wednesdays – 10pm
Quo
(511 West 28th Street): It is definitely going down tonight at Quo, as tons of people make their way to this exclusive party for some New York City Nightlife’s biggest names. From big time promoters, singers, and actors to nightlife-goers like you and me, every black person with an inclination for weekday partying will be at Quo tonight. So get out your best duds, dust off those dancing shoes, and get ready to stand in line for the exclusive party. I suggest everyone come with a group of ladies, otherwise, you may find it a tad bit difficult to make through the door tonight.

La Pomme Afterwork – 5pm
La Pomme
(37 West 26th Street): DJ Spynfo and DJ Mike Neeze should make this party worth the stop on your way home from work. No non-urban music here tonight. Instead, rap and R&B will dominate the dance floor; however, there will be a brief intermission. Drew Frasier will be doing a short, little stand-up comedy routine, making La Pomme one of the few places in New York City, where a young, black professional can get tipsy, laugh, dance and eat all in the same place on a Wednesday night. What else do you need?

Unforgettable Wednesdays – 10pm
Skinny
(174 Orchard Street): If you haven’t made your way to Skinny yet, now is the time to do it. With one of the most diverse, chill clienteles in New York City, it’s hard to pass up on a place with great service, cheap drinks and easy conversationalists. Tonight, they are charging $5 to get in, but for $5 patron shocks, $4 vodka cocktails and a plethora of other drink specials, you can make your money back if you plan on getting a little throwed tonight. This event draws in a lot of young, successful professionals, so those of you looking for a job in this recession, may want to see if you get cozy with someone working in HR tonight.

In the Cut – 10pm
Le Souk Harem
(510 LaGuardia Place): DJ Nesta B will be in the building, spinning nothing but hip-hop and R&B for all of the young patrons in attendance. I assure you that you will be surrounded by nothing but the most prominent people in nightlife, as a diverse crowd of socialites, big spenders and artists make their way to Le Souk Harem tonight. There is a strict dress code, and you need to RSVP at lesoukharem@redhot-pr.com.

Sake for Singles – 7pm
Matsuri
(369 West 16th Street): SakeOne is sponsoring a singles night at the chic and trendy Matsuri sushi restaurant. First and foremost, the sushi here is out of this world, and while expensive, it’s definitely worth it to come through with a few friends for a one-of-a-kind dining experience. As for tonight, a professional date coach will be on the premises, looking to put her matchmaking skills into action. Of course, I question how hard it is to make a match when there is an open bar going on from 7pm to 8pm, and drink specials for an hour after. Go to mariathedatecoach.com for more information.

To Kill a Mockingbird” 50th Anniversary – 8pm
Symphony Space
(2537 Broadway): How Comedy Central’s Stephen Colbert every got tied into a “To Kill a Mockingbird” anniversary celebration is beyond me. However, you can’t deny that he will make this event a hell of a lot more interesting. I loved “To Kill a Mockingbird” in school, in fact, it was probably the first book I actually paid attention to in school. Naturally, many people agreed with me, as the book has been voted the best novel of the 20th century. So relive some of your childhood, and come to the Symphony Space to have a little Q&A with actors and authors who grew up loving this book as well. Tickets at: www.symphonyspace.org
