It looks like it is going to be a beautiful day this Thursday! All the more reason to enjoy the weather during the day and play inside at night. There is plenty going on in the New York City spectrum this evening, including balls, mega clubs and plenty of after work parties. Of course, many people will flock to their televisions and bars to watch tonight’s Game 7 in the NBA Finals, so make sure that’s on your agenda as well. With that said, here is your Thursday Nightlife Rundown for June 17, 2010.
Mary J Blige & Women’s Ball – 6:30pm
Cipriani Wall Street: Every black, female entertainer in the New York City area will be at Cipriani’s tonight when Mary J. Blige hosts her first annual benefit for the Foundation for the Advancement of Women Now (FFAWN). The foundation is dedicated to giving women the help and assistance they need to achieve their goals and dreams while overcoming with the difficulties of womanhood in this world. To be a part of this and contribute to the cause, all you have to do is a get a ticket and enjoy a night at Cipriani’s, where wonderful ladies like Queen Latifah, Tarji P. Henson, Jazmine Sullivan and Mary J. Blige herself will host one of the best events for young, black professionals going on in the city tonight.
Girls Night Out – 10pm
Webster Hall (125 East 11th Street): Hot 97 will be in the building tonight when DJ Magic takes center stage on the 1’s and 2’s. Rest assure, that he will be on top of his A-game with the best hip-hop and rap mashups you will hear all week long. In addition to that, the ladies are free all night, while the gentlemen have to pony up more than $20. It’s an expensive price to pay, but I wouldn’t recommend it if I didn’t think it was going to be one heck of a time at Webster Hall tonight. With Hot 97, surprise celebrities, and every beautiful woman and man in New York City coming through, there really is only one option for late night entertainment this Thursday.
After Work Thursdays – 6pm
Honey Lounge (243 West 14th Street): Come to Honey after work for the most chill time of your life. Here, you can sit back, relax, shoot the breeze and talk it up with your closest friends, all the while sipping on significantly marked down drinks during happy hour. Admission is always free, the music is always on point, and the food ain’t that bad either. At about 8 o’clock, there will be a “Rap vs. Hip Hop” competition, which should be, at the very least, entertaining, so come through and enjoy “After Work Thursdays” at Honey.
NBA Finals Game 7 – 9pm
1849 (183 Bleecker Street): There are no wing specials at 1849 tonight, but as you know, the alcohol stays on the cheap. Well drinks and beer are half price all night, and you can even get 5-cent drafts with the purchase of any appetizer. What’s better than munching on some bar food and throwing a few back while you watch the first Game 7 in the NBA Finals in five years? I can’t think of anything better, and if you can, you clearly just don’t like sports!
Restaurant of the Day
The Oak Room (10 Central Park South): Enjoy fine dining at its best while enjoying a little musical entertainment as well. The Oak Room serves up some of Manhattan’s best dishes, including Tempura Rock Shrimp & Calamari appetizer, not to mention their Muscovy Duck Breast. As for the entertainment, The Oak Room hosts “Supper Club Thursdays” tonight, which will have musical performances my local bands here in New York City.
