Tonight is the last Thursday of the month, which means that you better get in your end-of-month partying as soon as possible. From nightclubs to more nightclubs, today’s rundown is all over the place, searching, finding, looking and waiting for some of New York City’s best events to hit the calendars. So without further adieu, here is your Thursday Nightlife Rundown for October 28, 2010.
Ladies Night Out – 10pm
Webster Hall – 125 E. 11th Street, New York, NY
Here at Black Oak Nights, we love to promote ladies night, but the only reoccurring ladies night even that we cover is the one that goes down at Webster Hall every Thursday night. Why? Not because it’s the best place to get drunk, because the drinks aren’t free. And it’s certainly not because it’s a great place for guys to meet ladies, because it will cost you an arm and a leg to get in here. We love the Webster Hall Ladies Night Out, because it is far and away the most fun anyone will have at ladies night out without going completely drunk. First and foremost, ladies are free, but they also get to completely skip the line, giving all females plenty of time to enjoy themselves while the men wait outside in the cold. Then of course, DJ Spynfo is always good with the music, and on ladies night, he’s even better, as he probably tries to do his best to please all of the ladies in the club in hopes that he is taken care of at the end of the night. Last but not least, this is an extremely fashionable affair. Sure, it’s Webster Hall, where not every night is an evening at the Ritz Carlton, but given the high turnout on Thursdays, bouncers aren’t at all reluctant to throw punk-dressed boys and underdressed females out of the line. So come ready to party, come ready to dance, and come in those go-gettem’ heels ladies, because Ladies Night at Webster Hall just can’t be beat.
HD Thursdays – 10pm
Amnesia – 609 W. 29th Street, New York, NY
If you want something with a little more kick to it than what’s happening over at Webster Hall tonight, perhaps Amnesia should be your nightclub of choice. DJ Self and DJ First choice will carry the club all night long through a plethora of hip-hop and old school music. Like Webster Hall, the ladies are free (but only until 1am), and gentlemen have to pay a pretty penny to get in as well. There are bottle specials all night to help get you in the baller mood before the night is over. If that’s not enough, then maybe the pure sexy and chatty nature of this party will keep you off your butt tonight, so that you can enjoy one of New York City’s best Thursday nightlife events.
Pure Love Thursdays – 10:30pm
Taj Lounge – 48 W. 21st Street, New York, NY
Taj is always going hard on Thursdays nights, and this week is no different. With free entry, 2-for-1 top shelf drinks and free drinks for “Ladies in sexy jeans, wearing sexy shoes,” there’s no reason to question Taj’s motives for tonight. The only thing in question is your wardrobe, and whether or not you can dress the part to get in this bad boy. Thursdays can get pretty crowded at Taj, so it’s best to come dressed correct or don’t show up at all. Better yet, come dressed correct and get there early, otherwise nobody is guaranteed entry—not even the finest of young, black professional females in our reading audience. Then again, you could spring for a bottle or two to expedite your entry in Taj Lounge tonight, and at just $150 for a bottle of Moet, perhaps that’s not such a bad way to go.
Urban Girl Squad Singles Party – 7pm
Pranna – 79 Madison, New York, NY
Okay, so if you haven’t heard of Urban Girl Squad, ladies, listen up! While predominantly of Caucasian nature, Urban Girls Squad provides special access to New York City for women in their 20’s and 30’s. From nights at the watering hole to meeting store owners, anything is in play for the women of Urban Girls Squad. Tonight, the ladies of this fine group are exchanging more than clothes, they’re exchanging men—sort of. Essentially, the members of the club are bringing their male friends and introducing them to other Urban Girls members. Now, why a female (especially) would want somebody that a friend of hers does not want, seems highly unlikely to me, but that is the entire premise of this exhibition, so I think it might work. That being said, given the lack of transparent diversity, only those with some 1991 Wesley Snipes fever up in them should truly consider this. Nonetheless, there are some sisters in the squad as well, so there would have to be a brother or two in the building that our Nubian princesses can get at. Let us know if you find one, and if you have any ideas for today’s or this weekend’s rundown, do let us know!
